Martin Meredith Martin Meredith was born January 4 1971, at the age of 13 acquired his first saxophone, which was kindly provided by Brian Travers. Martin continued to play throughout his schooling where he formed his own band that played many gigs around the Birmingham area. After leaving school Martin continued playing and spent all of his time day and night practicing the saxophone, playing and recording with his band, he also started to play with other bands that toured around the country at club level. In 1990 Martin attended a music college called Accafess which was available to musicians who were unemployed, it was here that he realized that he wanted to play saxophone seriously as a career. 1993 Martin attended another college called Joseph Chamberlain where he studied composition, harmony and other aspects of music. Since then Martin has played saxophone with Tricky, Sly, Robbie and Gwen Dickie, and
Chrissie Hynde, Martin has also appeared on numerous TV shows and videos with UB40. Outside of UB40, Martin enjoys writing music for computer games and working with other singers and songwriters.
