Duncan originally started singing with his brothers at a very young age, he was taught by his folk-singing father Ian. Duncan had the opportunity of joining UB40 before they became a household name but at the time was running his own business and so declined.
Duncan has had various occupations from pub licensee to managing a casino in Barbados. As an equity card holder, over a 10 year period, he appeared as an extra in tv programmes such as Casualty, East Enders, Peak Practice and Dalziel and Pascoe to name but a few. He cites his main musical influences as Stevie Wonder, Sam Cooke, Johnny Nash and Ian Campbell.
