Just e-mailed the following to the BBC.
I am writing to complain in the strongest possible terms about the highly offensive comments made by Jeremy Clarkson on last night's One Show.As the husband of a school dinner lady I take strong objection to his ignorant and imflammatory comments.Has it not occured to this cretin that the very people he wants to see shot in front of their families are paying his wages via the BBC license fee.His claim that he "works" for a living is laughable.Clarkson should sink to his knees every night and pray to whatever god he prays to (money, probably) and give thanks that we live in such vacuous times in terms of popular culture. I realise the One Show is live so I don't really blame the presenters or the BBC but surely his status as a BBC employee is untenable after displaying such contempt for so many of the people who finance his ludicrously high wage.Murdoch already pays him to write an infantile newspaper column, let him finance his small screen career too.

Nice try Tom, but it looks like we're stuck with this cretin. Here's a BBC statement from this afternoon -
Jeremy Clarkson has apologised for saying striking public sector workers should be shot, after his remarks were widely condemned. Trade union Unison had called for the Top Gear presenter to be sacked by the BBC over his "appalling" comments. Mr Clarkson said he had not intended for the comments on The One Show to be taken seriously and was "happy to apologise" if offence had been caused. The BBC received about 5,000 complaints and has apologised for the comments. The corporation said in a statement: "The One Show is a live topical programme which often reflects the day's talking points. Usually we get it right, but on this occasion we feel the item wasn't perfectly judged. The BBC and Jeremy would like to apologise for any offence caused". Mr Clarkson said: "I didn't for a moment intend these remarks to be taken seriously - as I believe is clear if they're seen in context. If the BBC and I have caused any offence, I'm quite happy to apologise for it alongside them." |

Any apology is obviously insincere and therefore meaningless and has only been made to save his arse. The concept of forced apologies is one I've never really understood. While I don't believe for a moment he meant these comments to be taken literally they do expose a contempt for people who provide vital public services while he is poncing about in his full size Tonka toys.
