listening to cressida fkn dick[head], the acting cheif of the met, trying to make out the police have eventually delivered 'justice' makes me ill.

even in this latest trial, the police, with a combination of incompetence and collusion, left it open for the defense to claim 'contamination' of the forensic evidence that eventually found them guilty.

and it should be remembered, witnesses talked of '5 or 6' young men in the white gang that killed stephen. So most of them have still got away with it.

stephens mother was still [rightly] angry that it took over 18 years, and enormous pressure to get this, still unsatisfying, result. And said that it shouldn't be used as an opportunity for the police to score a PR success. She had nothing but scorn for the way the police handled the whole thing. Not investigating in any meaningful way immediately after the crime, hiding evidence, not keeping the lawrences informed about the investigation, tipping off the parents of the accused, and resisting any change to [according to the mcphereson report at the time] the polices' 'institutional racism'.

it's a sorry tale, and exposed the thugs and racists in our police force. Not just 'a few bad apples' [as they always claim] but the whole stinking organization.

since 9/11, the police have been given even MORE powers to harass minorities then ever. So, not only have they NOT changed, they're probably worse.

I've heard that these two could be sentenced as juveniles, as per their age when they committed the crime. Does anybody know if this is correct?
