Jimmy,as resident bb film critic I think it's your duty to go to see it and post a review.

by what I've read it hasn't gone down well with critics, seems like it's a rip off of the comic strip films we talked about the other week, surprised they got Streep to play the part thought Jennifer Saunders as Streep as the iron lunutic was inspired casting

you beat me to it eamonn.

been following the story tom.

got a few problems with it.

I haven't seen it yet, but it seems to be more of an old-fashioned hollywood bio-pic. No way is that going to illuminate anything concerning the british class system [even brits deny it]. Got a feeling that it will be far too sympathetic to her. It'll humanize her, and soft peddle her barbarism. One obvious fault she had was she didn't really care about the people who have suffered [and are still suffering] as a consequence of her actions. She lacked that most human of qualities, empathy.

and it's widely accepted that it was the policy of deregulation that SHE introduced that has lead to today's financial crisis. And the lack of quality british manufacturing was her baby too. And the burden of household debt is one of her major contributions to the pressure that ordinary people find themselves coping with today.

her big idea was to change the laws on interest free credit. this allowed people to buy goods on the never-never without paying heavy interest. And that leads directly to the unacceptable levels of personal debt that ois hurting so much today.

I would be very surprised if the movie touched on any of this.

I'll go and see it when it comes out and give a full revue.

as far as maggie having a state funeral, maybe we should let the 'big society' arrange it. I wouldn't want MY tax money to be used for that.

ironically, this is so funny. . .

was trying to post a clip of the comic strip episode 'STRIKE!!'

with meryl streep as maggie !!!!!!

I have heard one critic say it was not very flattering to her.
I really don't care who played her and I would not go and see the film, I might be tempted to lose control and throw rotten tomatoes at it

Not sure I would pay to go and see it....

As said above .....do think they will put a sympathetic slant on her.... which might be irritating so say the least

To be honest I wouldn't trust myself to go to watch it.I'd end shouting abuse and chucking popcorn at the screen.
