Default Abortion And US Politics

Been really disturbed when listening to republican presidential candidates talking about abortion.I also find the debate bewildering as the rest of the western world dealt with subject 40 years ago.

Rick Santorum is on record as saying he would ban abortions even in cases of rape and incest. The reason for this stance is his religious beliefs. What right has he got to inflict his theological stance on anyone else? Isn't that what the Taliban and the Iranian regime are doing.

I'm certain of two things.

1 Very very few,if any, women take the decision to have an abortion likely.

2 If abortions are made illegal they will continue to be performed in backsteets by unqualified people in unsanitary conditions.

Tom, I think almost everything that comes out of his mouth is disturbing. Although it must be noted that he is an equal opportunity idiot - he's offended everyone - gays, women - on several issues including abortions, contraception, etc., African Americans, Palestinians, etc. etc.

He really scares me because he has completely ass backward views and uses his "religion" to back up his views. Its scary that he's made it this far in the political world...God Help America if he goes any further....

WQell sadly I have to disagree with the point about women not taking the descision to have an abortion lightly. I think alot of underage girls sadly dont, they see abortion as a form of contraception in the UK. I know of at least 3 girls who have an abortion because theyve been made pregnant underage. There reaction when they found out that "oh I can always abort".
Thats a pretty sad reflection of the attitude of the UK.

But going back to the US elections, I still cant believe that politicians are still trying to get elected on their religious beliefs. I remember Phoney B. Liar trying that schtick by claiming he read the Koran and that he was also converting to being a catholic.

I dont want to be ruled by someone who takes a fairy story as fact.

Abortion is the murdering of a human being. If someone is raped and gets pregnant, they can have the child and give it to someone who WILL raise it. It's very selfish and inconsiderate to have an abortion. If you don't think so, then think about this: If your mom would have aborted you, then you wouldn't be here! Humans should NOT have the right to deny someone their life, whether they are already born or still in the mother's womb. We simply do not have the power over life and death...and it's a dangerous road to travel if we pretend to be gods and decide who lives and dies. This debate should be settled by human decency.

Let's not forget though that a LARGE NUMBER of people who want to have abortions are simply young girls/ladies who simply don't know how to keep their legs shut or practice safe sex. So they end up pregnant and think that a baby would be an inconvenience, so they decide the easy way out is to deny that child the right to life. That's sad...such people should not be allowed to procreate!

Sorry for ranting but this is a subject that really pisses me off. It's alright if you disagree with me, but at least you know how i feel about it!

i think people should do what they need to get on with life to within reason, but force religious beliefs on people is wrong
they can shove whatever book they read up thier arses

if people want to follow a religion..fine......i dont need to know about it
