Default What's your favorite UB40 era?

Haha sorry I'm biting off of you Dutchy. Your poll sparked an idea for me. Thought this might be an interesting question also. What's your favorite UB40 musical era? The categories are going to be:

1978-1982 (Signing Off, Present Arms, Present Arms in Dub, UB44, UB40 Live)

1983-1988 (Labour Of Love, Geffery Morgan, Baggariddim, Rat In The Kitchen, Live CCCP, UB40)

1989-1997 (Labour Of Love 2, Promises And Lies, Guns In The Ghetto, Dancehall Album)

1998-2003 (Labour Of Love 3, Cover Up, Fathers Of Reggae, Homegrown)

2004-present (Who You Fighting For?, Dub Sessions, 24/7, Dub Sessions 2, Labour Of Love 4)

Tie (Can't decide between two or more)

Mine would have to be 1983-1987. Those albums are just some of my favorites. Also I enjoy the B-sides most from that era.

I was close to choosing that option also, Starshine. . It's very hard to decide.

Early ,when it all began, just loved the freshness they brought to the music industry, how the music industry did not really know how to take them, the energy in the live performances, in particular Jimmy, i mean wow that guy was amazing. The sweet BT sax sound and dare i say it Ali's tone in them days was fantastic. Robins solo's, breathtaking, Earls bass lines were his and only his, Norman the way he wacked the bongos and Micky was a one off, all 8 were great together but more importantly have stood the test of time and are still making great music

hard one to decide on any particular Ub40 era, I can remember how back in the early days things were that more less hectic you could say...relaxed gigs, where obviously stage sets were simpler ,and the band just made most of them tight up stages that they were given....smoked filled venues and a brand new reggae sound would deffinately mean the 80's era was inspiring and so new that it created the stir which has never stopped 'til now. I would probably pick then and now...inbetween were equaly as good, but it seems I can remember the oLd days and the present that much clearer. the dubs of present have given us that extra Ub40 that has always been there, locked down y'could say, but now it seems a freedom to deliver and invent a reggae sound up to date and beyond..ahead of time ....ub40 back to the future!

Sorry, too hard to choose - I have favourite songs from all eras, and it's difficult to pick one era better than the other!
