The older you get, the more different kind of music you appreciate, as a teeneager i was into ska and punk, late 70's it was hot, but besides that (i never told my friends) i was a big fan of elvis presley and motown artists. soul still is the music i love, blues too, but i also appreciate trance and techno, and even james last from germany, and andrea bocelli, difficult tho, i want to collect all i can, but it's way to expansive, downloading music for free is piracy, but in my case i have too

Weird thing though is: most singers have those weird ego's, i was singer in a band too, we think we are the most important of the band, because we are the voice

Not kidding now, i came up with a melody, we had a drummer, one on guitar and one on keybord, my drummer later on became the drummer of time bandits, a kind of a dutch disco band early 80's, i'm specialized and man with the golden voice were their greatest hits.
Back than it was easy for me to come up with a tune, we went to the top of the house (don't know how you say it in english) i sing, and the drummer followed up and than the guitar and keybord followed, was a fun time though

I can understand it in a way. I've got all this hardware to hide behind. But a singer is sort of naked out there on the front line. It's the most demanding job on stage. Not sure that excuses diva style behavior though dutchy. There are plenty of singers who are decent people too.

I was decent though (haha). but in our case, we were 15 yr orso, for the other guys it was difficult to come up with something, simply because they didn't had the lyrics, mostly i came up with something after listening to some records, had a kind of style in my head and made something my own, went upstairs singing it and they filled me in with the music, later on i finished the proper lyrics, was bad though, but still a lot of fun

At karaoke i did a lot of jimmy somerville/bronski beat/communards songs, most people say it's difficalt to sing, but it was very easy, it is just twisting your voice (not the natural singing voice).Mick nuckhall can sing high to, but that one is natural, as far as i can remember no one ever karaoked him, because it's to difficult, don't like all his music, but his voice is fricken outstanding

It's how all bands start dutchy. UB's were lucky, what we did set of a chain of events that no one could have predicted. But it's so random that any left turn instead of a right could have changed everything. It a sin to think about how many great bands didn't get through because the wind was blowing in a different direction, or the timing was out by seconds, or the planets weren't aligned. Pure random chance.
