not saying anything about it, but as i said in a different thread as long as he keeps promoting himself as UB40s ali noballs and ali noballs UB40 and the UB40 in large or The True Voice of UB40 as on Ticketmaster website then this sh1t will never go away.
Sorry i was not fooled by his news stunt the other day, he was even saying when we(UB40) did this and did that, its as if he feels he really is still in the band.
I dont think i ever saw an advert for Spandau Ballets tony hadley, or Boyzone's ronan keating they just sold their music on their ability. He needs to let go or the UBs have to do something

BUT I really don't think it can be ignored and swept under the carpet when there are issues that directly affect the band. I think this advertising issue is potentially damaging for them. People are clearly going along to these concerts thinking they are going to see UB40 and thats a BIG issue. The more it is ignored the more they will carry on doing it.

Helena i'm not ignoring it i'm agreement with you.
That's why i asked the question, My nasty mind is thinking is the booking only granteed if he uses the Name and so many songs, i could be far off the mark and completely wrong, thats why i wondered what grantees a booking and promotion lark, i've been in enough lumber round here lately....Yeep he has been nice lately, lets hope it lasts and i'm wrong in thinking it's only to sell tickets, but at the moment i'm prepared to give him the benefit off doubt.
at the moment i could have a arguement with myself in a empty house lol i'm off out for a few hours.

I remember when he played Romania. There was a quote in the press from, I think, the Mayor of the town he was playing. In it the mayor said that he had assurances from ttvo that he would be playing UB40 hits. As usual with ttvo's management there was controversy and confusion as to exactly who was playing, ttvo and his 'dep' band, or UB40.
In 30 years of playing with UB40 we have never even once been told what we were supposed to play. The idea of the promoter, the agent, or anyone including our own staff telling the band what they should be playing is laughable. UB40 would never allow ANYONE outside the band to tell us what we can and can't play. But then with us people know what they are getting. With ttvo it's never straight forward.

The size of the typefaces used is all too often down to the individual promoters, from my own past experience with other bands, but surely there's been some kind of agreement between the lawyers as to whether he can bill himself as 'UB40's AC' or 'AC (ex-UB40)' by now?

bill board....never heard of him,,,,
very misleading heading which gives the impression he is still with the band i think....
i.e if say, astro was doing some solo work, it may be ...ub40's astro
ttvo is not ub40's anymore he is on his own..
maybe he does not want himself to be confused with the LIFE Coach with the same name....although maybe he needs his help...lot's of it.
