Do you want the long or the short answer Dean? I'll go for the short one for now. My mum was an opera singer and, when push came to shove, her favourite music was opera/classical. Opera, as in Pavarotti for example, is indeed still classical music - with words (libretto).

For years I resisted all temptation to listen, but one day we found Classic FM and for years enjoyed listening to classical alongside UBs and other musical faves. I haven't listened to any for a while but it's good to know someone else enjoys it too - at times

I still can't cope with that much opera though. Sorry mum

Yes Dean...probably more classical than any other music.. and I love Opera..not all..Not over keen on Wagner even if he is a genius, the fact that he was a card carrying Hitlerite nazi just makes the notes go sour for me..I cant separate the man and his music..Whereas I'm mad over Puccini...Anyway...they use the same 12 notes that we use afterall...

I think Boroque is my favorite classical, but contradicting myself, Vivaldi is my all time favorite...you could just drift away on his water concertos..pardon the pun

Hello Brian,
We named our daughter Mimi after the heroine of Puccini's La Boheme - not that I'm a real opera buff or anything but do love Puccini, and couldn't resist when I read that "mimi is the tiny Parisian seamstress who falls in love with the penniless poet from the Latin quarter, Rudolfo" Aaah how romantic. Haven't told her yet that her namesake dies from consumption!!! She is only 5 after all....
