Lol4
We've had Labour of Love 4 released here.
The American LOL4 has two new one's which i agree with anyone buyin it again won't feel ripped off.
Question, In hindsight are you happy with the choices you made or would you add or change a few.

i have often thought whether LOL 4 had been in the pipeline before Ali left
and if so, had the song choice changed since Duncan joined

the answer to both of those questions is no and no dean.
We hadn't planned anything in latter months before the split. There wasn't any point. We recorded 24/7, but it was so fraught with what was going on and all that I don't think anybody had even thought as far as the next album.
Then when dunc joined the obvious introduction for him would be to make a LOL record. he remembers all those old songs too, so there was no need to change the song choices. In the beginning there were about 30 songs worked on, but some of those got removed before the recording stage.
I suppose having Dunc singing did make some difference. We had to choose songs that suited him, but the original list was put together mainly by RBC with some help from Astro. They're the oldies. The rest of us remember the songs well, but being slightly younger our main influence was early to mid seventies. That accounts for the more rootsy dubby flavor of Signing Off. it's the combination of those things that give us the sound we have. One minute a lightwieght love song [cream puff], the next a heavy dub [man next door]. It's the sound we make when everyone has an input.

for me its the best album since lol1,the new album has a great carefree kinda feel about it and i think the vocals and harmonies are wonderful.
I love the way the ubs have produced their own spin on the tracks especially
"close to me" which i knew as a scotty song being played down lime grove blues party...ahhh those were the days.
ub40..biggest and best

Yes Mr R. Lime grove. I remember it well. Always a blues every weekend for years. It's right next door to our old school.
