Hello from Croatia!
Hello to UB40 and their fans!
I'm pretty new to this, I've never been to any forums before, but I can see that you are all a nice big family here, so I've decided to join in.
Well, I've been listening to you guys and your wonderful music for about 30 years, while I still was in elementary school, practically before I could speak any English.I had my birthday a day earlier than you, Robin( happy birthday!), and I too had some thoughts about time passing so quickly and yet still feeling as a teenager (I'm 41)...then my sister put on one of your concerts I hadn't heard for a while, and that was just what I needed to cheer me up, really. I sang the whole concert along with you!So I started searching the Internet for information to see what's been going on with you, guys, and, among the rest, I came upon this site. I didn't even know it existed!?
I mean, I knew about the changes in the band ,and recent difficulties and new CDs.I was so sorry when Ali left as I thought you would stop recording, but I must say that you, Duncan, are great, just keep on! I was going to come to your concert in Zadar this summer ( I live in Split, another seaside town, bigger and more south), but I had a deadline to meet, and couldn't make it, and believe me , it was my biggest mistake last year! I was so sorry afterwards! So I hope to see you live this year in Croatia ( is there any chance?) or somewhere around. It would really be something! It's wonderful to see that you are still enjoying singing and playing and that you are so available to your fans, that success hasn't changed you.(I'm from a working-class family, so we share some of the experience.) I don't know if all these fans on the forum are your friends or neighbours, but you seem to be a real family and it's really impressive!
Then, is it only you, James, Brian and Robin talking to your fans, or there are others too? I'd like to exchange some comments on Norman's iPod music choice and why I adore ''Johnny Too Bad'',and his birthday is coming , too, but where to contact him? Come on, Norman, make yourself alive..I suppose you are talking to your fans, too?
Well,I hope someone will respond to this.Sorry ,guys, for being too long, but it's not so easy to put 30 years of emotions in few lines. Have a wonderful year all of you, stay well and young; now that I've found you I'll be watching closely...
To you and your fans, best wishes from the mostly sunny Croatian seaside! Enjoy yourself, Ivana

Welcome Ivana!!
Your UB love history, give or take, sounds similar in some ways, to mine. I thought I was a UB40 professional and then quickly realized I was just an infant compared to most of the loonies. I stumbled across this site in the same manner a year ago! One of the BEST things ever! Greatest bunch around and SOOOOOOO ENTERTAINING. There is LOVE, drama, suspense, comedy, insight, absurdities...you name it Plus, the added awesomeness that some of the boys (of UB) interact frequently. Never a dull moment. Well, maybe some but not too many.
Hope you'll come around a bunch and join in the fun and family!

Hello from Croatia!
Hi, everybody again and thanks to all of you for the welcome!
Well, I see the big family is spread worldwide, not only limited to Birmingham
Brian, now you can tell the guys you have support in Croatia, too!
Rudie and Ray, yes, I've read it in the papers that James is often in Zadar, but still I don't hope much. In the last 5-6 years we have had many concerts from bands/singers abroad, but mostly in the capital of Zagreb, rarely anyone bothers to come to the seaside, to Zadar or Split, so for each gig I travel to Zagreb. I'll be glad if they make it to Zagreb at least, if not I'll try to catch them in the neighbouring countries or I'll go straight to Birmingham. I've been thinking of visiting England this year, I have several (pen)friends in different towns , we'll see... Sometimes I wish I lived in London, Wien or Berlin,it seems that everything happens there musically speaking, so many concerts, and if I couldn't manage to see some of the bands years ago, I try to see as much as I can now.I suppose in your parts you have concerts more often...Or perhaps if/when we enter the EU bands will come more often, I'm not sure if it's related...
Yes, Paul,TiciaB, Paula, I was thinking for a week should I join or not, so I said , let's do something crazy for the start of the year, it certainly won't do me any harm I was surprised when I saw some of the guys talking to their pals on daily basis and it's great that I have an opportunity to tell them that I like their music. I also ordered the Cambells' autobiography to get the whole of the story.I'm only sorry that it's not all of them to be posting here, so I'll try to reach Norman in some other way. And guys from the band, don't get angry if you are reading this, I love you all, how can one choose, we grew up together, but I have had a soft spot for Norman since I saw him dancing while performing ''Johnny Too Bad'', he's incredible...
Well,if someone wants to contact me or send a private message, or ask anything about Croatia, or maybe get a postcard, feel free to do so.Enjoy yourself, Ivana
