They said they were ashamed George W Bush came from the same state as them and were opposed to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.Sounds reasonable enough to me.For voicing an opinion the rabid right bombarded these girls with death threats.I know where my sympathies lie.Bush wasted thousands of American lives,hundreds of thousands of civilian lives and billions of dollars on wars that achieved nothing.Respect shouldn't come automatically with the office of president.Bush didn't inspire respect,just derision.He was a liability at home and a laughing stock abroad.

Looking at the field of candidates for the republican presidential nomination I can't help feeling there's something seriously wrong with the American political system.How can a country that produces such talented people in virtually all fields of endeavour end up with such a collection of religious maniacs and near idiots.
