Default UB40 Moscow gig advertised in Russian media

Just found this article, which i thought was a nice read. Sorry for the "google translate", but hopefully it'll give you a some idea.

?????. ??????????? ???????? ? ????????? - Rockcor ?????? ?????????? ??????????? ???????????????? ???-??????

translation:

In the our history the group UB40 from Birmingham, UK holds a special place. These Englishmen were not something that was forbidden in the Soviet Union, but vice versa - they welcomed their work: Melodiya published their disc "Rat In The Kitchen" (1986) and in the same 1986 they were allowed to come on tour. And all because of the fact that the band's name - it's form, which should have filled Britons claiming unemployment benefit. From the standpoint of Soviet ideology they were absolutely trustworthy. However, at their concerts in Moscow and St. Petersburg banned public dancing, which greatly marred the atmosphere. In any case, UB40 remain in the pages of rock encyclopedias a group which was among the first to penetrate the "iron curtain". But the rest of the world had other reasons to love them.

UB40 was the first world-renowned reggae group, the backbone of which were white musicians. Brothers Ali and Robin Campbell, Duncan, sons of the folk musician Ian Campbell, along with Jimmy Brown and Brian Travers created a team that managed to earn the status of classics in the genre, in which the tone was set from time immemorial people from Africa and Jamaica. The most striking dark-skinned member of the original composition was the rapper Terence Wilson, known as Astro, classic rastaman with dreadlocks, still playing the role of a mascot of the group.

UB40 started to play covered of reggae hits in 1978, when Bob Marley was still alive. The greatest achievement of UB40 have four albums of cover versions, the title of each of which stood "Labour Of Love" and serial number. Within the long history of "Labour Of Love" rocked the world with such hits as "Red Red Wine" and "Kingston Town". Most listeners will not remember now, who wrote these song originally, but everyone knows that it was UB40 who made them reggae standards for all times. The song from the repertoire of Sonny and Cher "I Got You Babe", recorded with Chrissie Hynde of the group The Pretenders, UB40 first brought to the top of national charts. Also, the efforts of Robert Palmer and UB40 reborn and became a hit song by Bob Dylan MTV "I'll Be Your Baby Tonight". Finally, a song from the repertoire of Elvis Presley's "(I Can't Help) Falling In Love With You" after the appearance in the film version of UB40" Sliver "with Sharon Stone also became associated primarily with the octet from Birmingham.

However, the merits of UB40 as writers of their own material should not be underestimated. The first album "Signing Off" (1980), which consisted mostly of their own material the musicians made it to second place in the UK charts. UB40 - One of the most commercially successful reggae bands in history. The total circulation of her album is more than 70 million copies. UB40 resume includes such prestigious items such as participation in a concert in support of Nelson Mandela at Wembley Stadium in 1988, headlining position at the famous festival of Jamaican Reggae Sunsplash (2006) and participation in the Los Angeles arena Hollywood Bowl (200. Disc UB40 "Who You Fighting For?" (2005) was nominated for a Grammy as "best reggae album."

I'm looking forward to our trip back to moscow after all these years. 1986 was a long times ago. before glasnost and perestroika, and the eventual collapse of the berlin wall.

I think it's totally changed since those days.

thanks for posting irina.
