Default I found this article interesting...

about a slave who had the courage to speak his mind despite his disadvantageous position, so I 've thought if you haven't already seen it on FB or elsewhere, some of you here might be interested to read. After all, seeing the way the world is going nowdays, this topic, sadly, still seems to be pretty actual....

The last sentence is really... I dunno... weird. And why did the song "Strange Fruit" came into my head when I was reading this?

But respect to Jourdon Anderson to have the courage to write this letter to his Master, llike he said.

@kate13: yeah, wondering too if he get his money.

Odds on he didn't get his money.

I wouldn't have gone back ? but i admire him for writing the letter he wrote.

The last sentence.

Say howdy to George Carter, and thank him for taking the pistol from you when you were shooting at me.

I think, It's a nice way off saying BOLLOX to you."my old master" Colonel Patrick Hennessy Anderson.

Well, I'm sure he didn't get any money back. Yes, it seems unbelievable, but people back then had gone through much worse. This man was so proud and took his chance to tell his former master what he thought of him; he may have been illiterat, but he certainly was not stupid, and I admire him for his gesture. I hope he found some peace for the rest of his life.
Last week I watched ''The Help'' in the cinema and this article reminded me a lot of the movie...

Nice topic Ivana, slavery is a human malfunction, and should be deleted in the living system.
Freedom is so widely spread in our languages, people forget the real meaning of slavery and freedom.
The letter should be spread all over the earth.
Why is it that people can judge people by their looks instead of listening to the hearts ....
Tells you more about the judger his IQ...zero tolerance.

Big thanks for putting this up Ivana. It is an extraordinary find. I hope the more awareness there is about the document, there will be more light shed about the nuances of humanity and inhumanity during that time. There are lessons from the document we can learn from in the world situation today.
Peace,
Bagga.....
