Modern History of 80's 90's 00's by UB40 fans
I have this idea of starting a post ....which would be set out according to releases of UB40 records and live concerts.
The theme would be - what were you doing at that time/what did the sog remind you of/wht do you remember about going to the concert
Based onthe fact that UB40 were known worldwide, the band and their music affected people all over the world differently and as it spans>30 years, history was being made.
so for example, it would be 80's/1983/Labourof Love/ Red Red Wine
and fans would write in what country they were, what they were doing/what it reminded them of etc
My pal would have listened to it on her Sony walkman, spent her weeks wages on the record, played it loudly...another fr example would have been in Africa when they just banned the booze when her parents defiantly/secretly made red red wine out of a red flower.
In the 80's as soemone who had not lived in Britain , just seeing UB40 on TV as a successful multi racial band gave me a lot of joy and made me feel soemhow that it was possible to fit in.
People also have memories of the concerts, how they got there, what they did before and after.
Maybe I am nosy - just think it would be fascinating......
All the best

Thanks Rhondda - Am the most untechie person (being 3 thousand years old) ...so it took me ages to figure out how to put it in this bit - was hoping a more energetic technophil would know how to do it.
(now taking me ages to find the button to send this reply) ..I despair with myself!)

You have my sympathy, believe me,because you are talking to a fellow total incompetent. Having said that, everyone on here is really helpful and if you need help just ask.You will first recieve a volley of abuse, then they will answer any technical question you have. Best wishes.

Lovely people - have just lost another reply to the Ether - my Pc is so rickety it creaks. Anyone can start the post just don't trust myself - just think there will a few stories out there...judging by experience..
The red red wine was made from hibiscus wine which my parents made illegally in a store room which bubbled loudly terrifying me when we had visitors...so..when I hear the song it makes me think of them defiantly swigging the concoction and singing "red red wine"......
So run with it - will send this before it disapears ...and my pea sized techi brain expires...

This is a brilliant idea and I'll join in and follow once I learn how to navigate the site
Offhand, the band were part of a few memories eg my one chance to see them live in NZ and I chose to study! and double whammy, my friends got to meet them live.
Red, red wine.
Present Arms.
Homely girl is definitely a memory
...and many more (I always had UB40 on in the background).
